HowTo: What to do with those old wire hangers?  (Ken Gifford)

                    Page 1   Page 2       Next Page >>

Step 1 : Start with 6 wire hangers.

Clip the twisted ends and hooks off of 6 wire hangers. Straighten them out as good as possible, it doesnt have to be perfect. (My shop lighting is terrible so the pictures look bad, sorry)

Step 2 : Twist um up

Take the ends of two of the straight wires and clamp them in a vice good and tight. Put the other ends in a drill. (I have not tried a rechargable only electric.) Power the drill up slowly and twist the wires together. Don't go too fast or the wires will break. Sometimes I even heat the wires up with a propaine torch to get the twists tight and prevent breakage.

Step 3 : Cut them to size.

I have marks on my bech to cut the sizes consistent, but measuring them would work just as well. Make 3 pieces 22" and 11" long.

Step 4 : Tack um together

Lay 2 of the 22" and 1 of the 11" wires on the bench in a triangle form and weld them together. Then add the third 22" piece at an angle at the top and add the other 11" pieces at the bottom to make the pyramid shape.

Step 5 : There you have it.

Use the plastic wire ties to hold you're lights on and plug them in. These make an approximately 22" high mini tree. They stack well too.
